The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT represents the pinnacle of the iconic SLS AMG lineage, taking the already formidable gullwing (or Roadster) to an even higher plane of performance and dynamism. Introduced in 2012, it was a finely honed evolution, retaining the breathtaking aesthetics of the original – the unmistakable long hood, the dramatic gullwing doors (on the coupe), and the muscular rear – while sharpening its focus for an even more exhilarating driving experience. It's a modern classic, a testament to AMG's dedication to the naturally aspirated, front-engined supercar.

At the very heart of the SLS AMG GT's amplified performance is an uprated, naturally aspirated 6.2-liter M159 V8 engine. Through meticulous "de-throttling measures and an increase in peak combustion pressure," AMG engineers squeezed out even more power, boosting it to 583 horsepower (from the standard SLS's 563 hp) while maintaining a colossal 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. This magnificent V8, renowned for its instant throttle response and spine-tingling exhaust note, was paired with a re-calibrated AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed dual-clutch transaxle. This optimized gearbox offered even quicker shift times in manual mode and a more pronounced automatic double-declutching function on downshifts, perfectly complementing the engine's heightened aggression.

Beyond the power boost, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT benefited from a newly developed AMG Adaptive Performance Suspension. This system featured stiffer, more aggressively tuned electronically controlled spring and damper units that adjusted in real-time, significantly reducing body roll and improving agility. Visually, the GT was subtly distinguished by darkened headlights and taillights, red brake calipers, unique 10-spoke wheels with matte black inlay, and high-gloss black accents on the grille, mirrors, and hood/fender fins.
